AAP California Chapter 2

Pediatric E-News
December 2010
Dear Dr.

Happy Holidays to All!  December is always a hectic month with way too many things to do and way too little time to accomplish them all.  One of my big jobs this December is to write our Chapter Annual Report.  This goes to National AAP and is a concise (17 pages!) annal of all we, as a Chapter, have accomplished in 2010.  It is quite an impressive list of feats!  We will try to summarize it below so you can all see the hand you have had in making California a better place to be a child-or the doctor who cares for one!  So take a moment, pat yourself on the back, and then go back to what we do better than anyone else-taking care of California kids.

Laura Mabie, MD, FAAP
President, California - Chapter 2

Tis the season! AAP-CA2 Holiday Newsletter...

We consider AAP-California, Chapter 2 to be a family, and we are very happy you are a part of our pediatric family. It's sometimes difficult to fit every update and activity we do throughout the year in one E-Newsletter, but we're going to try with our Holiday Newsletter.

AAP-CA2 Holiday Newsletter

We hope you'll find this holiday update both helpful and educational as we continue to find new ways to communicate with our family of members and community partners.

Happy Holidays and have a wonderful New Year!

Proof of TdaP for Fall 2011 ... Get ready for the rush!

If you have patients entering 7th - 12th grade this year, then you need to be prepared to fill out or provide forms for them to enter school. Under new California state law, all 7th-12th graders are required to show proof that they have received TdaP vaccination upon entering school in Fall 2011. Chapter 2 and AAP-CA, District IX are working with state agencies to develop the strategic plan for implementing this law. This will include a form specifically for physicians. Further information is forthcoming regarding this form and other ways to streamline this process.

We're going virtual!

In an effort to build communications with our members, Young Physician Representative Tanya Arora, MD, FAAP has launched our Chapter's first Facebook page. While this page is titled "AAP California, Chapter 2 Young Physicians" we encourage members of all ages to participate and share your thoughts. The page is dedicated to providing Chapter updates, relevant news posts and a forum for discussion and questions among members of the Chapter.

We hope you will join us by liking our page and joining the conversation.
