SUMMARY:Climate Change & Immigration: A Conversation with Dr. Caleb Dresser
DESCRIPTION:Click Here to register! \nClick Here to view the event webpage \nJoin us on February 21st for a conversation with Dr. Caleb Dresser on the implications of climate change and its consequences on migration patterns\, and ultimately\, the health and safety of children and their families across the world.  Our goal is to address the issues that are urgent and provide pediatricians with strategies to direct and broaden the research\, education\, and advocacy necessary to influence policy and public awareness. \nCaleb is a Climate and Human Health Fellow working with the Center for Climate\, Health\, and the Global Environment at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (Harvard Chan C-CHANGE) to understand and enhance approaches to health risks during and after extreme weather events. \nCaleb’s current work focuses on the means to address health needs during and after climate-related disasters. He is currently exploring the hazards posed by extreme heat events and weather-related electrical outages for patients in communities near Boston\, including the threat that these can pose to patients with specific medical vulnerabilities. He is also examining the long-term health impacts of hurricanes and other climate-related disasters\, including issues of prolonged loss of access to medical services and temporary and permanent migration of affected populations. \nCaleb has experience with bench\, clinical\, and operational research in a variety of settings\, is former Uganda Program Director for the nonprofit Global Emergency Care\, and recently completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He is currently a practicing Emergency Medicine physician with Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. \nCaleb received his BS from Cornell University and his MD from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He is a graduate of the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and is currently enrolled in the Master of Public Health program at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. \nContact information and a list of Caleb’s published work is available on the Harvard Catalyst at https://connects.catalyst.harvard.edu/Profiles/display/Person/151341. \nAssociated Articles \n
