Medicine-Biological Sciences Scholarship Program
High School Student Awards
Now in its 19th year, the Medicine-Biological Sciences Scholarship Program provides recognition and a monetary award to exceptional students from the Senior or 12th grade graduating class. Students applying for this program must be planning to enter a college or university to study Medicine or Biological Sciences.
This Scholarship rotates each year through the different counties that make up Chapter 2 of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
The monetary award is made after completion of one semester at a qualified university or college (12 units or more).
AAP-CA2 Immediate Past President, Edward Curry, MD, FAAP, is Chair of the Scholarships Committee.
Committee on Service, Education, and Mentoring
Resident Research Awards
Each year, AAP-CA Chapter 2 solicits papers/case studies from pediatric house staff as part of the Committee on Service, Education and Mentoring (CSEM) Annual Research Award presentation. AAP-CA2 members of the CSEM review all submitted papers and select up to ten finalists for poster presentations during the Annual Advances in Pediatrics Symposium. Furthermore, the top two are selected as symposium speakers to present their research to all attendees.
Christine Thang, MD, FAAP, Chapter 2's representative for the Section On Pediatric Trainees, coordinates this fantastic program.
