The social services section provides resources addressing needs regarding career development, homelessness and emergency housing, grocery and meal assistance, parenting and preschool resources, and youth support and empowerment organizations. These are not federally funded and are mostly from non-profit organizations or local community programs.
Homelessness remains a crisis in Los Angeles County, with an estimated 52,765 homeless individuals present in 20181. The causes of homelessness in LA range from unemployment, expensive housing, and the lack of resources/shelter for veterans or people with mental health conditions2.Â

Los Angeles County has created a coordinated entry system (LA County CES) to facilitate the coordination and management of resources for homeless residents. This system should be the first step of connection for any homeless individual residing within the county. By calling the main number, the local hub for your area can be identified. Some hubs require a social security number to access resources, and we are working to incorporate this information into our resource guide. Other resources are listed here to help directly address possible specific needs of the homeless population.
