In January 2015, AAP-CA2 received funding from National AAP’s Chapter Quality Network initiative to implement a quality improvement effort throughout 10 to 15 practices: The CQN Asthma Phase 4 project, best known as CQN4 Asthma. Eleven practices make up the CQN4 Asthma Collaborative within AAP-CA2. Concomitantly, three other chapters (CA4, Georgia, and Kentucky) were also selected and make up the full scope of this national effort. Participating providers can qualify for CME and MOC Part 4 Credit.  This page is a resource for participating practice. All pediatricians are encouraged to review the information contained here.

Project Goal and Methodology

The overall goal is for practices to utilize and implement Optimal Asthma Care as dictated by the National Heart Lung Blood Institute (NHLBI) Guidelines. Every asthma related visit is documented on an encounter form, which is, in turn, uploaded to a National Asthma Registry. Data is analyzed and presented graphically to illustrate performance. Practices collaborate and participate in learning sessions sponsored and attended by National and local AAP leadership, as well as webinars and monthly calls. Adjustments to practice yield increasingly improving outcomes.
